Kansk Doctor Accuses Colleagues in Death of Toddler

A doctor from Kansk has accused his colleagues of inaction that led to the death of a small child.
«On Saturday evening, January 18, a one-and-a-half-year-old child was admitted to the city hospital with vomiting of blood clots, severe abdominal pain, suspected gastrointestinal bleeding and appendicitis. And what do you think? Nothing. Absolutely nothing was done to save him.
«The hospital management should have urgently organized an ultrasound, an FGDS (esophagogastroduodenoscopy) to check for bleeding or stomach perforation, monitored the pre-operative resuscitation measures to prepare the child for surgery, and immediately called a pediatric surgeon to prevent bleeding,» the medic wrote in the Telegram channel «Aksyutenko Life» and requested anonymity.
«The chief doctor, or rather the acting chief, simply did nothing. There was no organization, no urgency. As if it wasn»t Saturday but some routine appointment. The child suffered for several hours and died in the morning. He died from blood loss and peritonitis, yes. But in fact — from helplessness and from the inaction of the management that was supposed to organize this help… My child, any child in the city, could get sick. Appendicitis — it«s a common thing! And what, no chance?» the user reports.
We asked the Kansk Interdistrict Hospital (KGBUZ Kanskaya Mezhrayonnaya Bolnitsa) to confirm or refute this information.
«We do not comment on this,» NGS24.RU was told in the chief doctor«s reception office.
The Investigative Committee confirmed to NGS24.RU the death of a one-and-a-half-year-old child at the Kansk Interdistrict Hospital.
«On January 22, investigators initiated a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 109 »Causing death by negligence.« The cause of death and all the circumstances of the incident are now being established,» the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee for Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Khakassia told NGS24.RU.
Recently, nine infants mysteriously died in a Novokuznetsk maternity hospital. Now, law enforcement and leading experts of the country are conducting an investigation within the medical institution.
