This is the second call for firefighters to an educational institution in the Nevsky District within three days. The incident occurred at a school located on Nerchenskaya Street.
This incident is part of a series of recent fires at educational facilities in the city.
The evacuation from School No. 693 was carried out in the morning, shortly before eleven o«clock. As clarified by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) for St. Petersburg, the fire occurred in the locker room of the gym on the second floor, where a hand dryer caught fire. It was extinguished before the arrival of firefighting units, and there were no casualties.
The administration of the Nevsky District confirmed the fact of the evacuation. Children were temporarily placed in a neighboring school and kindergarten. «The room has been ventilated, students have returned to the educational institution. The school is operating in normal mode,» the administration reported.
On January 27, firefighters extinguished a fire on the second floor of a lyceum on Telman Street in the same Nevsky District. The day before, on January 26, due to a fire in the basement, students were evacuated from a lyceum in the Kirovsky District of St. Petersburg.
