Georgia woman searches for brother missing in Urals

A woman from Georgia, Yekaterina Tskvitaya, is searching for her brother Georgy in the Urals. For nine years, his sister has known nothing of his fate. The last news of him came from Novouralsk in 2016, when the young man was visiting his father while passing through. He visited him with a friend and behaved strangely.

Georgy left his father«s place by car without saying where he was going. And he never contacted his relatives again. At first, close ones waited for him to show up, then they raised the alarm. They turned to a search party and even hired a private detective to find the missing relative. But this brought no results.

The sister submitted an application to a federal channel. It has been hanging on the website of the program «Wait for Me» since March 2025. But no one has reported her brother«s whereabouts so far.

«Mom can»t find peace«

Yekaterina is the older sister of the missing Georgy. Both were born in Abkhazia, but when they were little, the family moved to the Urals and settled in Novouralsk. Here the children finished school. And when Katya received her secondary specialized education diploma, the parents decided to move with the children to Georgia.

«When my brother turned 18, he said he wanted to return to Russia. We have many relatives who stayed here. He went to his aunt in Moscow. During this period, he got involved with a bad crowd,» the sister says. «He could disappear for six months, but then we would find him through friends and acquaintances. He was in a penal colony twice. First for car theft, then either for hooliganism or theft.»

The father and mother then divorced, and the head of the family returned to Novouralsk. His ex-wife and daughter remained in Georgia. The son wandered around Russia.

The sister says that after serving his second term, her brother settled down and found work. He got a job as a construction worker in St. Petersburg. He called his relatives, regularly communicated with his mother. But after the trip to Novouralsk, he didn«t send a single message.

«Mom can»t find peace. We had a very good relationship. He would have found a way to contact us. Therefore, we no longer expect good news. Perhaps he is no longer alive,« the sister says.

The sister called all her brother«s friends whose numbers she could find. No one knows where Georgy disappeared. The relatives even turned to a private detective for help.

«He said that he is not in the colonies. But I can»t be completely sure of that. But I think if he were imprisoned, he would still have let us know,« says the sister of the missing man.

«Started doing nonsense»

We contacted the father of the missing man, who was the last of the relatives to see him. Vazha Tskvitaya said that after that visit from his son, he was left with an unpleasant aftertaste. They were not close, Georgy dropped by only because his and his friend«s car broke down on the way. The father helped repair it.

«He briefly told what he does. He didn»t answer questions, just turned away. They bought some things, you know, blood pressure monitors, massagers, kettles, and then sold them to grandmothers for much more. Some shady firm, and the car was registered to someone else. In short, got into a shady business. With such a business, anything can happen,« says the father of the missing man.

The father notes that when his ex-wife and daughter raised the alarm, he tried to find his son. But he seemed to vanish.

«I didn»t file a report, but my brother and I turned to acquaintances in law enforcement agencies. Useless. He doesn«t even have any registration. Simply, the person is nowhere to be found,» says the father of the missing man.
