Gas and heating outage leaves tens of thousands stranded in Volgograd

Residents of Spartanovka were left without heat and gas on a cold January day. According to locals, apartments are slowly cooling down, and children were sent home from school.
Residents from various parts of the microdistrict report disruptions in heat and gas. One management company advised directing all inquiries to gas suppliers, adding that a rupture occurred on one of the main pipelines.
JSC Volgogradgorgaz confirmed the information about the rupture, specifying that the pipeline depressurization was due to a traffic accident:
‘As a result of a collision by unidentified persons, an above-ground gas pipeline on Lavreneva Street in the Traktorozavodsky District of Volgograd was damaged,’ the organization reported. ‘The damaged section of the gas pipeline was localized by shutting off the valve on the pipeline, and repair work has now been completed.’
Due to gas issues, difficulties also arose in providing heat to residents — the boiler house supplying hot water to the heating systems of Spartanovka residents was left without fuel:
‘Due to the suspension of gas supply by a third-party organization to the boiler house, heat supply to some houses in Spartanovka was provided at reduced parameters,’ reported Heat Supply Concessions. ‘After gas supply is restored, the coolant is being heated at the boiler house, and soon the resource will be supplied in accordance with regulatory parameters.’
V1.RU is clarifying information about the traffic accident that damaged the gas pipeline with the regional police press service.
Recall that the day before, residents of the Tulaka microdistrict were left without heat. The cause was damage to the heating main near the Lesogorod park. The main was repaired and heat supply restored only by the evening of January 19.
