Captain 2nd Rank Vladimir Nikitin, head of the 178th Military Representative Office of the Russian Ministry of Defense, was detained on January 29 in St. Petersburg by officers of the FSB Directorate for St. Petersburg and Leningrad Oblast together with military investigators. He is suspected of accepting a bribe on a particularly large scale.
According to the investigation, the bribe was handed over by a representative of a commercial organization for ensuring the unimpeded acceptance of electronic component base, used as part of the state defense order. A criminal case has been initiated, and investigative and operational-search measures are continuing.
