Driver hits pit bike operated by 14-year-old in Pyatigorsk

Roads are dangerous places where accidents happen daily, but some cases attract special attention. The issue of pit bikes remains unresolved, as teenagers take the wheel of this type of transport and get into accidents.

Another incident occurred yesterday, January 19, around 11:00 in Pyatigorsk. According to the State Traffic Inspectorate of Stavropol Krai, a 54-year-old driver of a Kia Spectra was turning left but did not ensure the safety of the maneuver and collided with a pit bike driven by a 14-year-old girl from Stavropol. As a result, the girl broke her leg and was taken to the hospital.
It is worth recalling that pit bikes are not intended for road use in populated areas. They are mini-motorcycles considered sports equipment and can be used for sports activities on specially designated tracks.
Traffic inspectors found that the driver of the car is a resident of Stavropol. Over the past 2 years, he has been held administratively liable 4 times for traffic violations and was sober at the time of the accident.
Recall that the pit bike problem became particularly acute after a terrible accident in Mikhaylovsk. At that time, three teenagers on two sports motorcycles sped onto an intersection from a minor road without yielding to a concrete mixer traveling on the main highway. The heavy vehicle swept them away like feathers. All three riders were hospitalized with serious injuries. It later became known that a 15-year-old schoolboy died.
