Distracted Trolleybus Driver Hits Schoolboy at Crosswalk
The trolleybus accident took place on Karl Marx Avenue in Omsk during the morning hours.
In Omsk, a pre-investigation check has begun regarding an accident involving a trolleybus that hit a 12-year-old boy. The incident occurred this morning, January 29, on Karl Marx Avenue near the Cascade shopping center. As reported by the regional investigative committee, the trolleybus driver was distracted and failed to notice the red traffic light.
During the check, investigators will determine the causes of the accident and also review the operations of the municipal transport enterprise, with legal assessments to be made regarding the actions of its employees under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (providing services that do not meet safety requirements for the life and health of consumers). Based on the results of the check, a procedural decision will be made.
Earlier, the police published video of the incident. The footage shows the teenager starting to cross the road, but he is hit by the trolleybus. From the impact, the boy is thrown onto the roadside. He is currently in intensive care. As NGS55.RU was told by the Ministry of Health, the child has injuries of varying severity.
The prosecutor«s office has also taken up the investigation of the incident.
