Cunning Yekaterinburg man steals sneakers by swapping with old shoes

A cunning and brazen Yekaterinburg resident stole a T-shirt and expensive sneakers worth 18,000 rubles (about $200 at current rates) from a package pickup point. The incident occurred today, January 20, at the pickup point at 32 Krasnykh Komandirov Street.

The stolen new pair of shoes was valued at over 18,000 rubles.

The buyer entered the point, took a box with new shoes from the employee, and went into a fitting room.

Afterward, the man asked if he could leave the sneakers for storage to pick up his order in a couple of days. Hearing an affirmative answer, the cunning customer ran off.

«I didn«t even have time to say anything. After I checked the contents, I found that the new sneakers had been swapped for old, worn ones,» the pickup point employee told E1.RU.

The woman filed a report with the police. The customer himself was caught on surveillance camera footage.

The E1.RU editorial board requested a comment from the Yekaterinburg police and the marketplace«s press service. The news will be updated as soon as a response is received.
