In the village of Chumlyak in the Shchuchansky District, the New Year«s holiday ended before it even began. On the night of December 30 to 31, an accident occurred on Komsomolskaya Street, and about a hundred people in 24 houses have been living without water for more than three weeks since then. This was reported by residents to a correspondent from 45.RU.

Among those caught in the utility blockade is a 97-year-old veteran. His neighbors help him. They carry water and cook food. But even he has to melt snow on the stove to get at least some water for non-drinking purposes.

The water supply in the village has not been restored after the accident.

«The authorities never organized water delivery. There is no water in the nearest water columns,» says local resident Yevgeniya.

According to her, people manage as best they can. Some go to the other end of the village to get water, others go to relatives and friends who have their own wells. They have to wash at the homes of acquaintances.

Residents are sounding the alarm. They wrote to the district administration, the prosecutor«s office, and the government of the Kurgan region. The answer is the same everywhere: »under consideration«. They promise to give a more detailed answer »within the time limits established by law«. Meanwhile, employees of LLC »Gorodskoye Vodosnabzheniye« (City Water Supply) have resorted to rudeness when communicating with affected residents.

«They initially promised to restore the water supply on January 12, but after that date, the foreman of the repair team stopped giving any comments, including stating: »We are not dogs to work in the cold for you,« noted Maria.

«They are no longer mincing words. When we call them, they answer that they will just shut us off until spring,» added Yevgeniya.

The situation is critical not only because of hygiene and cooking. Most houses in Chumlyak village are on gas heating. The operation of the boilers directly depends on the pressure in the water supply system. With each day without water, the risk that the heating system will simply stop and the pipes will burst in the frost becomes more real.

While people melt snow and try to start their cars in the bitter cold to bring water, the public pages of the Shchuchansky District administration paint a different picture. Official messages say that the teams are «working despite the frost», and there are water columns on nearby streets. And at the request of residents, the authorities are ready to organize water delivery.

«To restore water supply to 24 individual residential houses and 2 commercial facilities, which was disrupted due to a pipe burst, the work of specialists from the resource-supplying organization LLC »Gorodskoye Vodosnabzheniye« has been organized. The teams are working despite the frost, and additional equipment has been attracted to restore water supply in the near future. Moreover, there are drinking water columns within walking distance, which residents can use if necessary. Also, if necessary, if due to frosts the organization of work on water supply takes more time than planned, then at the request of residents, water delivery can be organized. The situation is under the control of the head and the administration of the district,» according to the public page of the Shchuchansky District administration on the social network «VKontakte».

We have sent an editorial request to the regional department of information and internal policy to find out the timing of the water supply restoration. As soon as the answer comes, we will definitely publish it.

Earlier we reported that in the city of Shchuchye, people have been living without water for a week.
