Nearly 100 Buildings in Omsk Lose Heating After Major CHPP Accident

The affected section of the pipeline is situated near Omsk«s main railway station.
The regional EMERCOM (Ministry of Emergency Situations) reported on the scale of the heating outage in Omsk due to an accident on the heat pipeline from CHPP-2. According to the department, 96 facilities were affected, including 67 apartment buildings, six social institutions, and 23 administrative buildings.
Authorities have cordoned off the area where the pipeline rupture occurred.
“The site of the rupture has been found. Currently, emergency repair work is being carried out by teams from JSC Omsk RTS SP Heat Networks. The emergency shutdown is under the control of the Main Directorate of the Russian EMERCOM for Omsk Region,” clarified the regional EMERCOM head office.
The regional prosecutor«s office is monitoring the outage situation. They specified the exact location of the rupture — a section of sidewalk near the railway station.
Rescuers advised Omsk residents in case of heating loss to wear warm clothing and consume warm food and drinks. However, under no circumstances should alcoholic beverages be consumed. Open flames should not be used indoors — this could lead to carbon monoxide poisoning and fire.
