Murmansk to Form State Company for Housing Utilities Control

Governor of Murmansk Region Andrei Chibis on January 22 at a press conference for journalists spoke about plans to create a state management company and strict control over private management companies in the region.
According to him, the idea of a state structure for managing houses has not been abandoned, but due to economic difficulties, the implementation of the project has been delayed so far. The company«s goal is to create competition in the market and have the ability to promptly solve problems with heating, water, and house maintenance if private companies fail.
Chibis noted that the authorities have already begun to strictly monitor the work of management companies together with the prosecutor«s office and housing inspection. Dishonest managers are already facing criminal responsibility for improper performance of duties that worsens the condition of houses.
At the same time, he noted that the majority of management companies work conscientiously and the new measure is not aimed at capturing the market, but at protecting residents and creating healthy competition.
