Kurgan resident freezes in apartment with barely warm radiators

A resident of Kurgan says her apartment is freezing cold and the radiators are barely warm, with cold water running in the mornings.

In Kurgan, a resident of building No. 11 on Tovarnaya Street complained that their first-floor apartment is cold in winter. She reported the problem to a 45.RU correspondent.

«We moved from the Energetikov district, where it was just hot in winter. And here we are living through our third winter. It»s freezing in the apartment, the radiators are barely warm. We appealed to the building manager, he replied that the return flow, while it goes from the first to the sixth entrance, has time to cool down. They also tell me, what do you expect, you have a corner apartment on the first floor,« said Lyubov.

The woman added that the temperature in the apartment is about 16-17 degrees Celsius (61-63°F). The water runs cold in the mornings. To wash up, she heats water in a kettle. For utilities, she pays about 9,000 rubles (approximately $100 at current rates) per month.

«We used to live on Krasina Street, where my father-in-law lives now. We would open the balconies and windows in winter. And here, on Tovarnaya, it»s so cold. We are no longer happy that we bought the apartment,« complained Lyubov.

The 45.RU correspondent reached out for comment to the managing company «Novy Kvartal» (New Quarter), but no one answered her phone call.

In Kurgan, there has been cold, frosty weather for several days. At night and in the morning on 23 and 24 January, in some parts of the Kurgan region, severe frost of -40, -42°C (-40, -44°F) is expected, according to the TsGMS (Central Geophysical Observatory).

Updated at 21:47: The administration of Kurgan commented on the situation. According to the press service, the managing company together with «Teplovye Seti» (Heating Networks) will take measurements of the heating and hot water temperature at this address, and based on the results, appropriate measures will be taken.

«According to the managing company, an inspection of the residential premises of this apartment building conducted earlier showed that a large number of water heaters are installed in the building, which negatively affects the hot water supply for this building,» the response also stated.
