Expert: Boiler Shutdown at Omsk CHPP-5 Is Normal

Viktor Gaak, former head of JSC «TGC-11» and a professor, told NGS55.RU about how serious the shutdown of one boiler at CHPP-5 is during severe frosts. According to the expert, this is a completely normal situation. Moreover, all nine boilers at the CHPP almost never function simultaneously.
«This is a normal situation, there is nothing terrible about it. It»s the operating mode. The station has only 9 boilers, for its normal functioning in such weather conditions, the operation of seven boilers is enough. In general, it«s rare that all 9 boilers work. Mostly, if there is a task for generating electricity in large volumes,» Viktor Gaak emphasized.
The specialist also commented on the information that the CHPP is not heating the water enough — instead of 131 degrees, it is 112 degrees. According to Viktor Gaak, the dilapidated networks of the municipal «Heat Company» do not allow heating the water to the required parameters.
«What they write there, that the station is supplying insufficiently heated water to the network, is simply explained — the networks of the »Heat Company« do not allow giving higher parameters, their wear is great. With such a condition of the networks, it is difficult to give a higher temperature due to the threat of accidents,» the expert added.
Earlier we reported that a boiler breakdown occurred at CHPP-5 and residents were warned about a temporary decrease in the parameters of the heat carrier. Meanwhile, Omsk residents continue to complain about cold radiators in various districts of the city.
