Tyumen singer battling cancer denied morphine prescription

Angelika Talantseva led the Tyumen Philharmonic«s choral chapel for 15 years while battling cancer.
Angelika Talantseva, a well-known singer and conductor in Tyumen who has been battling cancer for over three years, was forced to go to the hospital due to a sudden deterioration in her health during the holidays. The patient has been diagnosed with stage four cancer.
As her son Vladimir Talantsev told, she underwent several procedures under anesthesia at the medical facility and was switched to morphine-based painkillers because the previous patch-form medications were no longer effective.
After discharge, problems arose with obtaining a prescription to continue the therapy. Vladimir went to the clinic but was refused.
To get morphine again, which was prescribed in the hospital, you need a prescription from the clinic. Morphine can be administered no more than once every four hours. I rushed from work to the hospital, got the discharge papers, stood at the door and got the response, like, we won«t prescribe it for you, call a doctor to your home, described the patient»s son.
During the holidays, a home visit by a doctor could be delayed for several days, which was unacceptable due to intense pain.
A terrible situation: you say that mom can«t be without morphine, hellish pains, and they respond that it»s your own fault and the doctor will only come tomorrow, you should have called earlier. How will a person go a day without this painkiller, what will happen to them? These are already inhuman pains, added Vladimir.
The prescription was only issued after contacting the health department«s hotline, calling the hospital, and the chief doctor»s office. According to the son, at every stage he encountered complete indifference
from the staff.
Currently, Angelika Talantseva is at home and receiving the necessary painkillers. A palliative care specialist has already visited her.
Angelika Talantseva led the choral chapel of the Tyumen Philharmonic for 15 years. After the diagnosis, she not only continued treatment but also supported other patients at the oncology center with her performances.
