A Rostov resident said that he has to change his water filter every three months — by that time it becomes silted up. In Rostovvodokanal (Rostov Water Utility), they say that the water pumped from the Don River goes through many stages of purification. And the problem might be in the condition of the pipes. Many Don region residents have also noticed poor-quality water that smells unpleasant and quickly clogs pipes. We«ve collected comments from readers of 161.RU.

«And what will the water utility say about the fact that water flowing from the tap smells of chlorine? Are the pipes in the house to blame for this too?»

«You»re lucky that you don«t change the filter for 3 months. Here in Kamensk, we have to change it twice a month, or even three times.»

«In Chaltir — in two weeks. And there are two filters.»

«Today again, the water from the tap was dirtier than in the river.»

«I wonder, does anyone cook with this water? For example, make soup directly from the tap?»

«And in a private house, are the pipes old too? The house was built and put into operation less than six months ago. The house is new, the pipes are new, and the water comes smelly.»

«In Taganrog, the water has a smell of pond scum altogether; I was visiting, taking a shower — the smell is immediately felt.»

«Water utility is a »real beauty«! It shirks responsibility for supplying Rostov residents with poor-quality water. What do »management companies« have to do with it? What nonsense? Please, don»t make people laugh.«

In response to a complaint about a silted-up tap, Vodokanal (Water Utility) reported that tap water «implies the presence of various microelements, compounds, and organic matter.» These substances, the company says, can be retained on filters.
