Angelika Talantseva, a famous Tyumen singer who has been fighting cancer for more than three years, was unable to obtain pain medication. Her condition deteriorated during the New Year holidays, and she was admitted to the hospital, according to her son Vladimir.

«She was admitted to the hospital: three or four anesthetics over several days for special procedures and a switch to morphine. The narcotic patches stopped helping,» he wrote.

After this, the man encountered difficulties in obtaining the medication. We contacted Vladimir Talantsev, and he explained the problem in detail.

«To get a repeat supply of the morphine prescribed at the hospital, you need to get a new prescription from a polyclinic. Morphine injections can be given no more often than once every four hours. I rushed from work straight to the hospital, got the discharge papers, stood at the door and got an answer like, »we won«t prescribe it for you, call a doctor to your home»,« Vladimir described the situation.

He noted that waiting for a doctor during the holidays was taking several days, and waiting that long was impossible as his mother was in severe pain. He only managed to get the prescription after calling the health department«s hotline.

The ordeal lasted for several hours: after calls to the hospital, the health department, and the chief doctor«s office, Vladimir finally managed to get the prescription, facing »complete indifference« at every step, as he himself emphasized.

«It»s a terrible situation: you say your mother can«t cope without morphine, she»s in hellish pain, and they tell you in response that it«s your own fault and the doctor will only come tomorrow, you should have called earlier. How is a person supposed to go a whole day without this painkiller, what will happen to them? These are inhuman levels of pain,» says Angelika Talantseva«s son.

The woman is now at home and receiving her medication. She was visited by a palliative care doctor.

We wrote about Angelika in 2023. She is a well-known musician and conductor in Tyumen. She led the Tyumen Philharmonic Choral Chapel for 15 years. After learning her diagnosis, the singer immediately began treatment and supported other patients by performing at the cancer center. Her full story is here.

In 2025, she appeared on Andrey Malakhov«s show, singing a song from a Soviet film and impressing the host.
