In Rybinsk, Yaroslavl Region, cancer patients are experiencing difficulties in obtaining the subsidized drug «Goserelin». According to local residents, the problem has been ongoing since mid-January 2026.

A reader of the publication reported that, despite a small delivery of nine packages on January 23, the medication is still unavailable to many patients. One of them has not received the drug since January 14.

«There is a strict dosing regimen; this drug is administered once every 28 days. So, the cancer patient has already been without medication for over two weeks,» the source said.

«Goserelin» is used in the therapy of prostate and breast cancer.

According to the resident, he has already filed a complaint with the regional Ministry of Health. «They promised that the drug would be available on January 28 at a Rybinsk pharmacy. Today, when calling the pharmacy, it was said that the drug has not arrived and is not expected. Whose negligence is this or is it a reason for a prosecutor»s inspection?« the man wondered.

He added that there are quite a few people facing the same situation: «We are left begging, constantly calling the pharmacy, going to the doctor, and getting the runaround.»

The Ministry of Health of Yaroslavl Region responded to the inquiry, stating that the delivery of the drug is expected on January 30. After that, «patients will be able to apply for a prescription from their attending doctor,» the department clarified.

This is not the first case of interruptions with subsidized drugs in the region. In early December 2025, a huge queue formed at the Gavrilov-Yam Central District Hospital for medications. The incident led to a prosecutor«s inspection and the dismissal of the deputy director of the institution »Oblastnaya Farmatsiya« (Regional Pharmacy). Governor Mikhail Yevrayev then publicly explained the reasons for the employee»s removal from position.
