In some cases, extracting the object requires several doctors and general anesthesia.

Deodorants, enema nozzles, stationery, vegetables, adult products, light bulbs, and billiard balls — all these are items that proctologists have to extract from patients. An experienced specialist from Volgograd explained why a third of such cases involve elderly people, what excuses he hears, and when urgent surgery is required.

Not every retrieved item becomes part of the doctor«s professional collection.

According to the doctor, common jokes about objects stuck in the body often don«t match reality. For example, cucumbers are rarer than other objects, and roses have never been given to him in that way.

Patients rarely want to hear «come again» from a proctologist.

The specialist explained: «Such patients come to us in two ways: either they come on their own, or they are brought by ambulance. Fortunately, operative cases are not frequent, especially since they are rarely ordinary. And a third of patients are ordinary grandmothers and grandfathers who were doing enemas and accidentally lost the tip.»

A sense of shame quickly turns into excruciating pain if one doesn«t see a doctor.

The proctologist adds that he encounters not only elderly patients harmed by procedures. He has heard many excuses from those who found themselves in such a situation.
The doctor recalls: «Previously, it was very common to hear from patients that »someone forcibly shoved it« or »they made me do it.« Much rarer were excuses like »I was massaging my prostate.« At one time, we had drug addicts brought in who presented themselves as »just drunk.« They preferred to excuse themselves with head problems, for some reason, due to which they couldn»t stop shoving everything into themselves. But lately, patients prefer to tell the truth. Apparently, everyone has already concluded that hiding something from the doctor is pointless.«
According to the specialist, patients in emergency appointments often show ingenuity, using household items not for their intended purpose.
The doctor lists: «Actually, what isn»t found there. Very often, we have to retrieve deodorant cans, of all shapes and sizes. Often, sex toys break and go deep, especially those not equipped with a large knob or a loop of string to pull them back out. They even come up with homemade toys. Now, by the way, this is also a great rarity. Apparently, people have money now, and with marketplaces, there«s no need to be sophisticated in buying such things. All sorts of sticks, cucumbers, and carrots patients constantly lose irretrievably. For themselves, naturally... Even billiard balls have been retrieved several times. But in these cases, we already had to call traumatologists, because »into the pocket« they didn»t pass so easily anymore.«
The specialist emphasizes that one should not be afraid or ashamed to see a doctor. It«s better to visit a proctologist as soon as possible, without waiting for severe pain or more serious problems.
The doctor warns: «The worst thing for the body is when there are screwdrivers, forks, or spoons inside, which poses a risk of serious injuries. And if before seeing a doctor the patient also delays for a long time, ashamed of their problem, then it ends with a major operation. There is no other way to retrieve the object by that point. And if one doesn»t go to the doctor for a long time, a chain of unbearable pain, necrosis, perforation, peritonitis, and death easily begins.«
