New Surgical and Intensive Care Building Opens at Samara Children's Hospital

Construction of a modular surgical and intensive care building has been completed on the grounds of the N.N. Ivanova Samara Regional Children«s Clinical Hospital.

«The 900-square-meter (9,688 sq ft) surgical module was built on the grounds of the children»s hospital and is connected to the main building. Its uniqueness is the modern ventilation system, which ensures sterility through continuous air filtration and disinfection, as well as a special layout designed for rapid patient admission,« said acting Minister of Health of the Samara Region, Andrey Orlov.

The new building houses an intensive care unit with 8 beds, including 2 specialized wards—a laminar flow room for oncohematological patients and one for infectious diseases—as well as three operating rooms and a shock room for emergency care.

«The new department is three times larger than the existing intensive care unit. Putting the new operating rooms into operation will increase the number of standard surgeries performed and expand the possibilities for high-tech surgeries,» Andrey Orlov also noted.

Currently, the licensing process is underway, and the first surgeries in the new operating rooms will be performed in the near future.

Another regional medical institution in Samara, the clinical psychiatric hospital, is also set to be modernized.
