Intestinal Infection Hits 116 Children at Tyumen School

The intestinal infection outbreak was reported at a school in Onokhino village, Tyumen region.
An outbreak of intestinal infection has been recorded at a school in the village of Onokhino, Tyumen Oblast. According to preliminary information, 116 children have been affected: 115 are receiving outpatient treatment, and one child has been hospitalized.
An investigation has already been launched at the educational institution, and tests are being taken from students to determine the causes of the illness. School representatives promised to provide more detailed information later.
The health department reported that they do not have data on the exact number of hospitalized individuals and those who sought medical help. The administration of Tyumen District redirected all inquiries to this department and Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing). At the Onokhino medical outpatient clinic, they stated that they «do not have information» on the condition of the victims.
The prosecutor«s office has initiated an investigation into the outbreak of the infection.
Regional authorities officially reported the incident on January 29. The government stated that «control over the provision of necessary medical assistance to the population is being maintained, and anti-epidemic measures are being carried out.» Residents were also advised to consult doctors if symptoms of the disease appear.
