How to avoid intestinal infection while on vacation: tips

Recently in Sheregesh, several tourists fell ill with norovirus. Last year in the Novosibirsk region, isolated cases of this disease were recorded—this was reported to NGS by the regional Rospotrebnadzor (the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing). In the cards below, we show the signs of intestinal infection and preventive measures.

Norovirus is similar to rotavirus. Both are causative agents of acute intestinal infection, and an accurate diagnosis can only be established in a laboratory via PCR testing. Specific prevention exists for rotavirus—vaccination. It is given to children at an early age and effectively protects against severe forms of the disease. There is no such prevention for norovirus.

We explain how to avoid infection and what to do if you do catch it in the cards below.
In Sheregesh this year, tourists suffered mass poisoning, including two from Novosibirsk. One of them described the illness he had endured. The Kemerovo Rospotrebnadzor reported that it was norovirus and that the tourists could have been infected by employees of one of the local establishments.
