Yekaterinburg Roads Turn to Slush After Heavy Snowfall

After the snowfall, Yekaterinburg has become like a city from a scary tale. Cars coated in grime travel along dark streets. Instead of clearing the snow, municipal services heavily applied de-icing chemicals, leaving the roads a muddy mess.

The Yekaterinburg administration reported that city cleanup was discussed at a meeting with district heads on January 30.

«Heads of administrations have been instructed to closely monitor cleanup efforts, with district road departments obligated to haul away at least 1,500 tons of snow daily. Quality will be scrutinized. The standard procedure is: sweeping – forming snowbanks in the gutters – removal,» the press service stated.
