The «floating» bridges on the second phase of the Petrovskaya Embankment, which have stood for less than two years, have been deemed unsafe. The concrete piles supporting the structure have already begun to deteriorate. Voronezh residents reported this on social media.

At the end of January, access to the bridges was closed, and a sign was posted on the fencing warning of the location«s emergency condition and danger to life. Moreover, not all the sun loungers were even removed from the bridges for the winter.

As reported by the city administration, a contract is currently being finalized with Voronezh State Technical University (VSTU) to «obtain an expert assessment of the structure»s condition and the causes of the identified defects.« Letters have also been sent: one — to the contractor who performed the work, about the need to rectify the violations under the warranty; and a second — to the regional Ministry of Architecture, informing them of the identified violations.

The «floating» bridges are far from the only object on the Petrovskaya Embankment that has raised questions following the two phases of reconstruction. There are numerous complaints from both citizens and the city administration, especially regarding the second phase. Formally, the Kislovodsk-based contractor «PMK-38» handed over the second phase of the embankment back in 2024. However, it immediately became clear that the work, for which 1.2 billion budget rubles (approximately $13 million at current rates) were allocated, was completed with numerous shortcomings. Among the complaints about the reconstruction outcome was, for example, the quality of the children«s playgrounds. All Voronezh residents could have noticed something was wrong with them. The issue is that even by August 2025, the playgrounds had not been officially commissioned due to safety hazards. The Voronezh authorities attempted to secure the rectification of the shortcomings through the courts.
