Volgograd village enters third day without electricity

The village of Gornaya Proleyka in the Dubovsky District of Volgograd Oblast has been experiencing massive power outages for the third consecutive day. According to local residents, on the afternoon of February 1, the power was out again in the settlement.
Power outages started on January 30, when Gornaya Proleyka and the neighboring village of Gorny Balykley were left without electricity. Power was restored only in the morning of the next day, January 31, but by the evening it was gone again.
«Today there»s no electricity again,« lament the villagers. »Moreover, according to rumors, the power is out not only here but also in Olenye.«
Energy companies reported conducting work to melt ice on wires in the Dubovsky and Kamyshinsky districts. On the evening of January 31, they announced increased monitoring of grid conditions and the readiness of crews to promptly respond to consumer complaints. On the afternoon of February 1, a special operating mode was introduced due to worsening weather: heavy ice, wet snow, and rain.
«Ten crews are involved in eliminating emergencies at energy facilities: 37 specialists and 13 pieces of special equipment. Fifteen backup power sources with a total capacity of about 9 megawatts have been prepared,» the company stated. «Socially significant and infrastructure facilities are under special supervision. If necessary, energy crews promptly respond to household consumer complaints and resolve local technical disruptions.»
