On January 29, the Saratov administration announced an open competition for the development of a reconstruction project for Big Gornaya Street and Slavyanskaya Square. The winner of the competition will have to design not only new roads but also a modern transport interchange hub with a public transport terminal and a park-and-ride facility in the Volzhsky district of the city.
The project is being implemented as part of the municipal program for road infrastructure development for 2025–2027. Funding for the work is planned from the city budget. The work will be carried out in two stages. First, designers will have to propose solutions for the placement of a large parking lot (park-and-ride), so that drivers can leave their cars and switch to public transport.
In the second stage, it will be necessary to design the actual terminal stop with convenient boarding platforms. Before design, a full range of studies must be conducted: examine the terrain, geology, environmental conditions, and even check if there are any archaeological heritage sites on the territory.
It will also be necessary to coordinate the project with all organizations whose utilities (pipes, cables) run in the work area — from gas and energy companies to telecommunications operators. Designers are required to create an informational 3D model of the entire facility, provide lighting, drainage, and a room for drivers, and consider the need for temporary use of land plots for the construction site.
The project developer will bear a warranty for their work for 5 years. The full package of project documentation, including a positive conclusion from the state examination, must be provided to the customer — the Saratov Road Committee — by June 1, 2026. The contractor will be determined on February 19.
