Beeline: Internet Activity on New St. Petersburg Metro Stations

During the New Year holidays, Beeline studied the behavior of mobile internet users at the recently opened stations of the St. Petersburg metro, «Putilovskaya» and «Yugo-Zapadnaya». The total volume of consumed traffic corresponded to watching 13,000 episodes of TV series. On average, each passenger used 1.5 GB of data, which is equivalent to downloading over 400 music tracks.
The largest part of the traffic was accounted for by search engines and related services. In addition, passengers actively visited social networks with video content, listened to music via streaming platforms, and used online banking services.
Among Beeline network users at the new metro stations, passengers of the following age groups predominated:
- from 35 to 45 years old — 33% of the total;
- from 45 to 55 years old — 28%;
- the age categories 25–35 years old and 55–65 years old together made up 25%.
High-speed mobile 4G internet from Beeline was launched at the stations «Putilovskaya» and «Yugo-Zapadnaya» even before their official opening in December 2025. To ensure connectivity, engineers laid high-bandwidth fiber-optic lines.
Director of the Western Region of Beeline, Yekaterina Kudryashova:
We are glad that Petersburg residents remained connected from the first day of operation of «Putilovskaya» and «Yugo-Zapadnaya». Mobile 4G allows using useful and entertainment services, as well as staying in touch with loved ones. I note that our mobile internet also works in the passage from «Putilovskaya» to the «Kirovsky Zavod» station, thanks to which the connection remains uninterrupted.
