Avangard Stadium ice rink reopening after speedway races

The ice rink at Avangard Stadium in Vladivostok, closed for almost two weeks due to ice speedway competitions, will reopen to visitors on January 31, the city administration reported.
It was not possible to open the public ice on January 25 — immediately after the team Cup of Primorsky Krai in ice speedway «Races on Ice» — due to the need to essentially re-flood the rink. During the races, motorcyclists cut the ice cover to a depth of up to 15 centimeters (about 6 inches), effectively destroying the edges of the field and the access points to the ice. By Saturday, the rink will be leveled back to its previous condition.
The ice arena at Avangard will be available to citizens until February 15. However, a nearly week-long break is planned in the rink«s operation — from February 5 to February 10 — to prepare for a street hockey tournament among amateur teams.
Skate rental at Avangard Stadium will operate according to the following schedule:
January 31 — February 1 — from 2:00 PM;
February 3–5 — from 4:00 PM;
February 11–13 — from 4:00 PM;
February 14–15 — from 2:00 PM;
Skate issuance — until 7:00 PM, rental closure — at 8:00 PM.
Simultaneously with the opening of the rink at Avangard, residents and guests of Vladivostok will have a last chance to skate on the ice at the city«s central square. This venue will operate until February 1 inclusive.
»The rink and rental on the square are open from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with a technical break from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM,« the city hall reported.
Moreover, free skating is available on residential hockey boxes in various districts of the city and in Sergey Lazo Park. Here, the rink operates from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, rental — until 7:00 PM.
Also, the city hall warned that on January 31, due to the triathlon competition «Russian Ski Track», it will open for visitors at 3:30 PM.
