Artistic director of St. Petersburg Capella dies

Representatives of the St. Petersburg Capella announced on January 27 the passing of Vladislav Chernushenko. The People«s Artist of the Soviet Union, honorary citizen of the city, and longtime artistic director of the institution died at the age of 90.

The Capella collective expressed deep sorrow in an official statement: «The collective of the St. Petersburg Capella deeply mourns this irreplaceable loss and expresses sincere condolences to the family, friends, colleagues, and students of Vladislav Alexandrovich Chernushenko.»

Vladislav Chernushenko«s name is associated with an entire era in the centuries-old history of the Capella. His contribution to national musical culture is considered priceless, and his rich creative legacy largely defined the development of art in the second half of the 20th and early 21st centuries.
