Ural Pensioner Wins Moscow Apartment in Raffle

After being laid off from her kindergarten job, she now assists her daughter in caring for her grandchildren.
A pensioner from Sverdlovsk Oblast instantly became a Muscovite. 58-year-old Tatyana participated in a drawing on a marketplace and won the main prize — an apartment in the capital.
Previously, Tatyana worked in the laundry of a kindergarten near Yekaterinburg, but in September she was laid off. The Ural woman helps her daughter and looks after two grandchildren, and in her free time knits items for sale.
At the woman«s request, we do not specify which city she is from and do not mention her surname.
No One Believed She Won the Apartment
The apartment in Moscow became an unexpected gift for the woman on her daughter»s and grandson«s birthday. Tatyana learned about her luck last summer.
“On July 22, my daughter had her birthday, and the day before that I found out about the win,” Tatyana told E1.RU. “I have only one daughter, I raised her alone. Vikulya is the most precious thing I have. She was turning 37, she went to the pond with the children. I hadn’t logged into the app for three days, and before that I bought a lot of things for the dacha (country house) there. And then suddenly I logged in.”
At that time, neither Tatyana herself nor her daughter realized that they had actually won the prize. The next morning, the woman came to work and casually told her colleagues about her luck, but at the kindergarten they thought it was a joke.
“I went into the office where we get keys, I tell my colleagues: ‘I won an apartment, just like that’ — they looked at me and said nothing, went back to their work. No one believed me,” continued Tatyana.
A little less than a month passed, and representatives of the marketplace contacted Tatyana. This happened exactly on her eldest grandson«s birthday.
“I consider my daughter my guide in life, my guiding star. We work constantly together. And we treat people well,” says Tatyana. “I am a person with an open soul, a very happy person, my energy is very pure, and it attracted the prize.”
According to Tatyana, her daughter is a blogger, she told in her social networks that mom won an apartment, but the girl was not believed, and some even said that “it was all a scam.” The family found this very unpleasant, so they did not plan to talk about the win.
Not Always So Lucky in Life
Tatyana admitted that she loves raffles and always participates in lotteries, but she never gambles with money, because in her youth it let her down.
“I’ll walk down the street, if they ask, ‘want to play?’, I’ll say ‘yes’, but I’m not such a crazy gambler. Although once in Yekaterinburg I was cheated in a shell game, it happened. People were struggling, and I had money, I wanted to buy myself a cool shampoo,” shared Tatyana. “I’m walking down the street, I see they’re playing the shell game. I approach, they tell me: ‘Come on, place your bet.’ I had a hundred rubles (about $1 at current rates), at that time it was a lot. A young man gave the money to his partner, and he took off and ran away. And of course, I don’t play slot machines.”
The woman has not yet decided what to do with the apartment in Moscow — she likes living in her city, moreover the family recently built a dacha (country house). She definitely does not plan to sell the apartment.
“We have grandchildren growing up, children. Let it be,” answered Tatyana.
E1.RU journalist Anastasia Yakupova decided to conduct an experiment: every week she buys lottery tickets and calculates how much she managed to win and how much she spent on tickets. The results of this experiment you can see in a special feature.
