Russia 24 Host Maria Grigorieva Faces Backlash Over Bolshoi Photo
Artists accustomed to seeing the faces of the audience clearly did not expect such a surprise
Maria Grigorieva, a host on the Russia 24 channel, wanted to show her followers that she enjoys cultural enrichment, and not just anywhere, but at the Bolshoi Theatre. However, instead of support and approval, she faced hate. The reasons were two: a semi-transparent dress and a revealing pose in which Maria photographed herself, lying on the edge of a box with a playfully raised leg.
The theatre«s ballerinas — Anastasia Vinokur and Vera Borisenkova — criticized such behavior. They reposted the photo on their social media and questioned how appropriate such pictures are in a place where people come to touch art.
The women were supported by journalist Anastasia Menyailova. In her Telegram channel, she published a lengthy post expressing concern about what the Bolshoi Theatre and its audience are turning into.
— A thought flashed through my mind: «It happens.» And such a thought is, of course, bad, because such «it happens» should not occur in any theatre in the world! And we all seem to have resigned ourselves to the degradation of what is happening with the Bolshoi Theatre«s audience. But it turns out, this is not the only similar »lying« photo of the TV host from the Bolshoi Theatre. I»ll skip the frames in revealing outfits. And for this person, it«s normal, — wrote Anastasia.
In the post, the journalist also added that she considers it right when inappropriate behavior is immediately condemned and publicized, rather than turning a blind eye to it.
— One cannot remain silent about such things, one must talk about it and show others that this cannot be done in theatres, it«s inappropriate, uncultured, wrong, ugly, and many more words with the prefix »not,« — said Anastasia.
As Menyailova noted, Maria is indeed a frequent guest at the Bolshoi, at least, she regularly publishes photos from there. And she also constantly encounters criticism, only previously it concerned her outfits. Sometimes they are hyper-sexual, and other times, on the contrary, as if she was heading to the garden and dropped by the performance on the way.
— We used to go to the collective farm to pick potatoes in such attire, and now to the theatre, — commented one of Maria«s followers.

However, among her fans, there are those who are not at all bothered by the chosen outfits or poses for photos.

After the hate over the last photo, Maria deleted it from her social media and also shielded herself from comments. But the internet remembers everything!
