Pyatigorsk Films 'Little Karate Kid' Based on Actor's Life

The production involves a story of personal growth and resilience through karate in a Russian city.
In Pyatigorsk (Stavropol Krai, Russia), filming has begun for the family action movie «Little Karate Kid».
According to the plot, 12-year-old Sasha is forced to move from Moscow to his aunt«s place while his doctor parents are in Africa. In the new city, the boy faces school bullying and a conflict with the local leader Marat. Everything changes when during a flood his parents go missing, and Sasha finds the strength to continue living and fighting — through karate.
His mentor becomes the strict sensei Dmitry, and along with him — his daughter Masha. Karate helps the boy overcome fear, gain character, and believe in himself.
The film is largely based on the personal story of Roman Kurtsyn, about how sports help not only to survive but also to endure when the familiar world collapses.
The film also stars Miron Provorov, Alina Sokolova, Magomed Ismailov, Kirill Pletnyov, Polina Maksimova, Margarita Kharitonova, and other actors.
