Orphanage graduate sings on Malakhov show, recounts mother's rejection
Alexander Aganin from Kotlas performed on Andrei Malakhov«s show »Songs from the Heart« (12+). Alexander sang the song »White Snow Was Falling« from Mikhail Kust»s repertoire, and also told a sad story: he has lived his entire life without a mother, and when he tried to get closer to her, he did not find reciprocal support.
The episode with Alexander aired on November 30 on the channel «Russia 1». First, he performed the song on stage, and then talked with other participants of the program. Then the host mentioned that Alexander works as an ambulance paramedic. He has a large family — a wife and three daughters.
— So, you sing in your free time from saving people? — Andrei Malakhov asked him.
— Or maybe while you«re driving? — another participant clarified.
— That too, because usually music heals all souls absolutely. And all illnesses, — agreed the man from Kotlas.
Also, the program showed a segment filmed in Alexander Aganin«s hometown — Oktyabrsky. In it, he said that he spent his childhood in an orphanage, and showed the building and archival photographs.
— I came here when I was three years old, — Alexander explained. — Thanks to this place, I learned a lot in this life. I came to love this life. Truly, an orphanage cannot replace a mother»s love. Here, you are loved as one of many, not as the only and dear one. Around age 13, I probably felt: why do some people have a mother, and I don«t? I wanted her to be nearby. It didn»t matter to me what she was like, I just wanted a mother«s embrace. I wanted her to say: “Yes, you are my son.”
Alexander managed to find his mother; she lives not far from the orphanage — in the village of Ulyanovskaya.
— I got on my bicycle and rode to the neighboring village, — he says. — When she opened the door, she realized that I was her son. She said: “We weren«t expecting guests.” I turned around and rode back. She made it clear that she doesn»t love me and doesn«t need me. I was hurt. I just wanted to be a happy child.
According to the man from Kotlas, there were other attempts to meet his mother and talk with her, but they led to nothing good. To somehow drown out this pain, he started singing.
Together with Alexander, the film crew of «Songs» came to his mother«s house. The recording shows how he once again asked her to talk to him, but she refused, saying she had no time.
— Apparently, it«s not meant to be for someone like a birth mother to be in my life. For 30 years, I still looked for some excuses for her. I found the strength within myself to forgive her, — Alexander says at the end of the segment.
