Not clubs or parties: Fisherwoman finds mushroom bounty near Volgograd

After an unsuccessful fishing trip, Valeria Fomina ventured into a forest in the Volgograd region and returned home with bags full of row mushrooms and oyster mushrooms.

Beautiful fisherwoman Valeria Fomina gathered a bountiful harvest of mushrooms in the Surovikinsky district of Volgograd Oblast. After fishing, she went into the forest and emerged with bags of row mushrooms and oyster mushrooms. As she admitted, all the mushrooms were clean and untouched by worms or insects.

«After an unsuccessful fishing trip, I decided to go mushroom picking, and now I»ll show you what happened. After passing through all the thickets and encountering wild boar beds, I still stumbled upon my mushroom haul. Look how beautiful it is,« says Valeria. »And here the poplar mushrooms are hidden, we«re digging them out. And then the path began… This is where I found a little ridge. Let»s go further. After two hours of walking, I collected two bags of oyster mushrooms, but I didn«t stop there and went to look for poplar mushrooms. I don»t know how to stop… Look how many there are. They just keep coming one after another.«

Valeria admitted that she wouldn«t trade such mushroom hunting for any of the modern entertainments enjoyed by most of her peers.

«I»m absolutely amazed. This isn«t about clubs, parties, or drinking. Here, look, this is true happiness.»

All the collected harvest, according to Valeria, was used for pickling in jars and for frying with potatoes.

«We pickle the mushrooms. A spoonful of salt and a spoonful of sugar per kilogram of mushrooms when boiling, and I change the water three times. I do everything by eye, and you need to taste the brine. In the jar, I add garlic, peppercorns, and at the end—a teaspoon of vinegar. We seal them hot. When serving, we add mayonnaise or oil and mix with fresh onion,» shares the girl. «And I also fry mushrooms with potatoes; the recipe is simple too: boil them three times and then into the pan with onion and potatoes.»
