Journalists and Bloggers Preview Gia Eradze's Circus Show in Novosibirsk
For several years in a row, Novosibirsk has annually hosted tours of one of the most famous troupes—the production center «Royal Circus of Gia Eradze.» On January 31, the city awaits the premiere of a new program—the show «5 Continents», a joint project with the company Rosgostsirk (the Russian State Circus company). Journalists and bloggers were the first in the region to see fragments of the performance at a closed press preview several days before the premiere. Guests had the unique opportunity to get acquainted with vivid acts and then ask questions to the artists.
The legendary production center «Royal Circus of Gia Eradze» marks its 25th anniversary this year. For the jubilee season, the troupe presented the project «5 Continents,» uniting many genres: aerial gymnasts on corde volantes, corde de parelle, and even in nets, acrobats on the floor and trampoline, brave female trick riders, aerial antipode, a refined equilibrist on a ball, and a dexterous solo juggler. Their courage, endurance, and grace are simply captivating. In total, over 100 titled artists from «Rosgostsirk» are involved, who have won more than 30 world and Russian awards.
Gia Eradze«s programs are loved for featuring diverse animals, even those rarely seen in the circus. In the show »5 Continents,« viewers will be amazed by tigers, ligers, panthers, leopards, bears, pigeons, horses, and a unique attraction with six Canadian bison.
The performance is unified and made more dynamic by the sparkling clown duo «Dolly and Domino.» The creative alliance of honored artists of Russia Lada and Alexander Sarnatsky, whose sketches touch the hearts of the audience, allows one to look at the world through the prism of humor and kindness. The program affects the deepest strings of the soul and awakens incredible emotions.
«Each act is a mini-play with a beginning, development, some turning point, and an ending. These acts, like crystal beads, are strung on a common canvas. »Five Continents« is a show about how the circus is understood in all countries because it is a world art that carries only goodness, love, joy, and happiness,» said honored artist of Russia, clown of the show «5 Continents» Lada Sarnatskaya.
The show impresses not only with the talent of the performers but also with large-scale multi-ton decorations, exclusive costumes, author«s music, professional modern lighting equipment, and incredible special effects. All of this magically sends you on a round-the-world journey and allows you to completely disconnect from surrounding reality for three hours.
«The circus is the work of a huge number of people. Director, producers, choreographers, costume designers, artists, lighting designers, sound designers, costume designers. To create a small act that lasts five minutes, sometimes years are spent. For example, today you saw the attraction »Gypsy Wedding« with bears. It has been running for many years but constantly evolves, the authors bring something new: elements, tricks, costumes, music,» explained artistic director, chief choreographer of the show «5 Continents» Nelli Gazzayeva.
The creator of «5 Continents», artistic director of the production center «Royal Circus,» honored artist of Russia Gia Eradze has won many top trophies at Russian, European, and world competitions. In his arsenal is the most prestigious circus award in the world—the «Golden Clown of the International Festival of Circus Art in Monte-Carlo,» which is called the circus Oscar. In December 2025, the maestro became a laureate of the Russian Government Prize in the field of culture.
«Gia Eradze was one of the first to introduce a synthesis of ballet, variety, circus, plus incredible decorations and costumes. He mixed everything into one spectacle, and it caused a furor.
