How to write a letter to Father Frost: tips for parents
Everyone prepares for the New Year in their own way, but amidst this bustle, there is an important ritual for children — writing a letter to Father Frost. Writing a holiday request is a game that parents immerse their child in. When to start doing this and how was explained by Lyudmila Lozhakova, an early development teacher from Novosibirsk and a consultant on child-parent relationships.
At what age to write
The age at which children are introduced to Father Frost is when they should start writing letters. Psychologists believe it«s from age 3. But at 2 years old, many children are already taken to performances, so each parent decides for themselves.
Lyudmila Lozhakova focuses on the age of 3 and says that writing for the child is not necessary, and children themselves can draw their wish, glue pre-prepared pictures you provide or cut them out, for example, from a magazine independently, as well as use ready-made stickers.
»Now there are ready-made kits with luxurious envelopes, forms, and stickers, but organizing it yourself is not a problem and without breaking the budget at this stage,« notes the expert.
Older children can already write themselves. Lyudmila reminds how letters started in our childhood: »Dear Grandfather Frost, a girl named Lyusya from Novosibirsk is writing to you, I behaved well all year.«
But here questions may arise: what if I didn»t behave well? To whom might Father Frost not come?
«Scare tactics are bad and ineffective, and besides, a child is not capable of analyzing their own behavior. So write in any format that your heart desires,» recommends the expert.
If this stage is already passed, you can ask to write why the child wants this particular gift. Perhaps from this explanation, Grandfather«s heart will soften, and he will still bring the puppy that the parents don»t want.
What the gift can be
The specialist explains that parents decide what Father Frost usually brings: sweets, toys, pets, electronics, and so on. Mom and dad should explain what can be asked for.
«And don»t be afraid if last year the factory made electronics, and this year sanctions have even affected the wizard«s enterprise. And he can no longer deliver the latest smartphone. That»s also possible: New Year — new rules. Children adapt very easily,« says the psychologist.
And she explains how to handle the situation if someone they know received an »iPhone« from Father Frost, and your child got »Lego«:
»Let«s be honest: the age when children, after the New Year holidays, still remember and discuss gifts, and especially can assess the cost difference — that»s it all: it«s time to wrap up the fairy tale and reveal the cards. Children aged 5-6 don»t discuss gifts based on monetary equivalent. Those are your issues, don«t shift the blame.»

How many gifts can be asked for is also set by the parents. And whether you give another gift «from the parents» or all gifts are found under the Christmas tree for everyone from Grandfather Frost.
Where to put the letter
And if you«ve managed and written the letter, what to do with it? Lyudmila Lozhakova asks to write other options in the comments, and she herself suggests these:
Put it in the freezer.
Send it by mail together to Veliky Ustyug (or say that you»ll take the letter to the post office).
Put it in your mailbox.
Leave the window open and place the letter nearby.
