In Krasnoyarsk, as throughout Russia, various bots can be found in the online space. While some are launched by users for specific tasks, others randomly [unpredictably] appear under different news and other publications.

NGS24.RU decided to investigate what such bots write under posts in the Telegram channel and what the ultimate goal of such comments is.

Some bot comments manage to accumulate a few likes, such as seven in this example.

«Oh, how can anyone talk about Krasnoyarsk like that? Yes, we have our peculiarities, but that doesn’t make us a village! Krasnoyarsk is a city with soul, with history, with cozy streets that just invite you to take a walk,» writes the so-called Lilia in response to the statement by former governor Viktor Tolokonsky about Krasnoyarsk.

We agree 100%, but it’s alarming that Lilia’s profile has overly revealing photos for some reason.

A comment mistakenly referenced the gender, indicating a possible error in the bot«s programming.

And this is another Lilia (Caramel), but for some reason with the same photo, comments on the photo report of the exhibition by Dasha Namdakova and praises the NGS24.RU photojournalist.

Provocative photographs are a standard element in the profiles of these automated accounts.

A girl with revealing photos calls for summoning superheroes in response to the news about a fire on Molokova Street. The Emergency Ministry personnel (EMERCOM) who handled it are heroes too.

Most such comments from users with revealing, and sometimes nude, photos of women appear in the Telegram channel almost immediately after each publication. Often, the accounts—and those behind them—understand the context of the message and try to comment “on topic.” But sometimes there are misses.

For example, on the message about the search for the Usoltsev family missing in the taiga, an unknown person asks “why didn’t they call a bear.”

Certain comments display a lack of empathy, as if the programs lack human qualities.

NGS24.RU has been monitoring the incident with the Usoltsev family for the second week. We have collected all the details about what is happening in a separate extensive article.

Sometimes the text of such users/bots contains a direct call to visit the profile or enticing erotic offers. And sometimes, when commenting on news, the bot creators apparently hope that real users will go to the profile. In its description or in the story—most often there is only one—a link to a channel with revealing photos or other offers will be placed. We, naturally, did not click.

Clicking on links can leave a user without their personal account. About this, as well as how not to fall victim to scammers online and what the penalties are for selling a personal number or account—read in a separate article by NGS24.RU.
