Anastasia Mednaya Competes for 500,000 Rubles in Yarche Zvezd
Anastasia Mednaya, a folk vocalist from Orenburg, is participating in the television competition Yarche Zvezd on TNT.
November 1 at 21:00 on the TNT channel, a new episode of the program «Yarche Zvezd» (16+) airs, in which vocalists transform into their favorite artists. The main prize is half a million rubles (approximately $5,000 at current rates), and singer Anastasia Mednaya from Orenburg will be competing for it.
As Anastasia herself recounts, her entire life is connected to the Orenburg region. She graduated from school in the village of Nikolaevka, Saryktash District, and then enrolled in the Orenburg State Institute of Arts named after the Rostropoviches (OGII). Her specialized education is in folk singing.
“I worked for two years in the Orenburg Academic Choir, after which I decided to start a solo career. For ten years now, I have been a soloist with the Orenburg Regional Philharmonic, have traveled half the globe, and everywhere I performed folk songs,” the singer shared.
She specialized in folk singing during her education at the Orenburg State Institute of Arts.
Today, Anastasia Mednaya is a folk vocalist and soloist with the Orenburg Regional Philharmonic, and a participant in numerous vocal competitions and television projects. For example, in May 2025, she took part in the show «Pole Chudes». She took the stage with the dance ensemble «Oliriya».
In the «Yarche Zvezd» project, the Orenburg native will transform into a famous artist, but the name has not been disclosed yet. Mednaya calls participation in the project another challenge for herself. The girl admits that since childhood, she enjoyed parodying various characters. For example, the cartoon woodpecker Woody, and Boyarsky with his «Green-Eyed Taxi». And when she saw the casting for «Yarche Zvezd», she decided to recall her skills and test herself in this show.
If the Orenburg native wins, she will spend her prize on buying a car for her parents.
“My parents invested a lot in me. They supported all my creative endeavors and the winds of change when I wanted to do one thing then another. In childhood, my dad drove me to Saryktash almost every day, waited in the car for hours while I had vocal lessons with a teacher. Only in adulthood did I realize what hard work it was,” Anastasia said.
In each episode of the «Yarche Zvezd» program, four teams of three people each compete for 500,000 rubles. The participants must show different images of the same performer.
