ZabSU eliminates budget places for chemistry and biology teachers

Acting Minister of Science and Higher Education of Zabaikalsky Krai Natalia Vikulova at the Civic Forum in Chita on January 21 reported that there are no more budget-funded places for chemistry and biology teachers at Zabaikalsky State University.

‘At Zabaikalsky State University, there are no budget places for chemistry teachers, biology teachers next year. They simply removed them,’ said Natalia Vikulova.

The minister reminded about the consequences of the liquidation of the pedagogical university. Today«s staffing crisis in schools, according to her, is linked to that decision.

‘We merged, we said — it would be equal. What was at the start? 22,000 students, 1,300 teachers. Now we have 11.5 thousand students, of which 6,500 are full-time, all the rest are correspondence. And we had 1,300 teachers, but now we have 400 left,’ she concluded.
