Schools in Kuzbass are most short of physics, chemistry, and mathematics teachers. At the same time, about 450 specialists left educational institutions in the region, Education Minister Sofya Balakireva said at a press conference on Tuesday, January 27.
As the head of the department noted, more than 660 current vacancies in 2025 were filled by combining positions and new staff coming in thanks to programs such as «Zemsky Uchitel» (Rural Teacher).
At the same time, the average workload for a teacher in Kuzbass is above the norm — 1.8 positions.
Since the beginning of last year, 448 people have left schools, some of whom retired. During the same period, 320 young specialists were employed.
According to Balakireva, when schools with small numbers of students are merged, teachers do not lose their jobs. In some cases, they retrain or decide to take a well-deserved rest.
At the NGS42.RU conference, it became known that last year more than 70 kindergartens and schools were liquidated and merged in the region, including due to the emergency condition of the institutions« buildings.
