The regional Ministry of Education and Upbringing recommends canceling classes on January 23 for primary grade students in Ulyanovsk Oblast. This is due to a sharp cold snap — forecasters predict frosts down to -27°C (-17°F) overnight. School administrations have the authority to make the final decision independently. The key is to notify parents promptly through communication channels like parent chats.

According to the Hydrometeorological Center«s forecast, the cold will intensify over the coming weekend. On the night of January 24, the oblast is expected to see temperatures drop to -33°C (-27°F), with daytime highs unlikely to exceed -22°C (-8°F). This is nine degrees below the climatic norm. However, clear weather without precipitation is forecasted.
