Tyumen Residents Complain to Mizulina Over Frost Day Cancellations
Schoolchildren and teachers in Tyumen have mass-appealed to public figure Yekaterina Mizulina with complaints about the lack of frost days during severe cold spells.

Against the backdrop of abnormal frosts in Tyumen, students and teachers are sending numerous appeals to public figure Yekaterina Mizulina, criticizing local authorities for not deciding to cancel classes.
Mizulina published the received letters in her Telegram channel. «There»s some trouble with frost days in Tyumen: it«s very cold outside, but not everyone»s classes are canceled. I«m already getting messages not only from schoolchildren but also from teachers,» she noted.
In one of the appeals, a 7th-grade student describes the difficult conditions of the journey to school: «I beg you, pay attention. I am in the 7th grade. It»s 7:30 AM, and I«m already going outside in thermal wear because it»s −32°C (−26°F) outside, not −35°C (−31°F)! My feet are freezing, the wind is terrible. And I have to walk three kilometers because the buses stop far away.«
Teachers have also joined the complaints. «We, residents of Tyumen, appeal to you with a request for the necessity of a frost day, aimed at protecting the health and safety of our children in the conditions of harsh winter frosts... We, like our first-shift students, are also people, and we are also cold on the way,» wrote one of the teachers.
Yekaterina Mizulina has received many such messages, but it is still unclear what measures she can take besides publishing them on her personal channel.
Tyumen authorities have explained the procedure for making decisions on frost days. The head of the department of the city administration«s education department, Anatoly Ivanov, said that a virtual assistant is used for this — a program that automatically collects weather data from seven sources and calculates the average value, based on which information about class cancellations is posted.
Abnormal frosts have been observed in the region for several days. On some days, classes were canceled for some groups of schoolchildren. For example, today, students from grades 1 to 9 of the first shift stayed home, and in the afternoon, the frost day was introduced only for elementary school students.
