Tutor Fees in Khanty-Mansi Can Hit 3000 Rubles

Analysts from the Profi.ru service found that January is one of the periods when demand for tutors in school subjects peaks. Many students need extra help to successfully get through the third, longest quarter of the year. And high school students begin intensive preparation for exams. We decided to see how much tutor services cost in Yugra (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug) on online classifieds platforms.

Most often, an hour-long session with a teacher is priced at 700-1200 rubles (about $8-$13 at current rates). Meanwhile, experienced specialists, including associate professors and candidates of sciences, can ask for a higher price — 2500-3000 rubles (about $28-$33).

The cost of sessions can also depend on the goals for which the student and their parents turn to a tutor. For example, preparation for VPR (All-Russian Verification Works) costs from 600 to 1000 rubles (about $7-$11), while OGE (Basic State Exam) and USE (Unified State Exam) will be more expensive.

In addition to in-person sessions, teachers offer online meetings with students. Moreover, the price for tutoring in such cases can be even higher — around 2000 rubles (about $22).

As told to 86.RU by a teacher from Surgut, Anna (name changed — Ed.), the price for tutor services largely depends on the grade in which the child is studying.

«For sessions with elementary and middle school students, a lower price is usually set because the curriculum is easier. Moreover, many teachers spend not 60, but 40 minutes with younger students to avoid overloading the kids. Because of this, the price is also lower.

Preparing a graduate will be the most expensive. There, the tasks are more difficult, and the teacher bears high responsibility for how the student passes the exam.»

Anna notes that now many schoolchildren choose not individual tutoring sessions, but educational courses from online schools. Nevertheless, tutors are not sitting idle.

«Every year, more children ask my teacher acquaintances for tutoring than they can physically take on. Finding a tutor is quite difficult, in my observations, demand is higher than supply, especially in small towns.»
