The administration of the Engels district has begun preparing for a major overhaul of three educational institutions, planned for 2026 under a federal program. The repair work will affect School No. 3 and School No. 18 named after A.A. Mylnikov, as well as the M.M. Raskova Educational Center.
The repairs will begin before the end of the school year, so students will temporarily have to study at other schools. The education committee will take on the organization of transportation for the children. As the administration notes, similar experience has already been successfully applied in the district in previous years. At meetings, parents allegedly acknowledged the necessity of temporary inconveniences, emphasizing the importance of quality repairs in buildings that have not been updated for decades.
Simultaneously, the administration is dealing with the issue of a new school building in the Letny Gorodok (Flight Town) neighborhood, located next to the Educational Center. The process of transferring it is not yet complete: the necessary documents are being prepared, including sanitary-epidemiological conclusions and a license for educational activities. Currently, the authorities are considering various options for distributing students during the repairs.
Final decisions on the placement of the children have not yet been made. The press service of the district administration clarifies that they will be agreed upon, and information about this will be conveyed to parents at additional meetings immediately before the start of the work. However, the authorities« plans are causing serious criticism from parents.
In her Telegram channel, public activist and mother of many children Irina Alyoshina, whose children study at the M.M. Raskova Educational Center, stated that information about the temporary transfer of children has been conveyed to families incompletely and is causing panic. According to her, parents learned that students of the center are planned to be distributed to several schools (No. 7, 19, 30), located in different parts of the city, and high school students are to be transferred to a technical school. This creates a problem with transportation, as there are not enough buses, and many children will be moved to the second shift, which will disrupt the schedule of exam preparation and attending clubs.
Alyoshina also pointed out that in Letny Gorodok there is a ready school for 1100 students that could take all the pupils, but it has not been put into operation because the documents have not been fully processed.
«Good gentlemen! Maybe, at least sometimes, you should have dealt with the process in advance, and not as usual!?.. Why should thousands of children and families suffer again from your incompetence?» the activist asks.
