In a school with in-depth study of certain subjects in the Krasnooktyabrsky district of Volgograd, three eighth grades have been left without a Russian language and literature teacher. According to parents, the previous teacher quit, and a new one has not yet been found. They have been searching since last summer for a salary of 30,000 rubles per month (about $330 at current rates).

As parents told V1.RU, school No. 20 has only three eighth grades. Currently, Russian language and literature for the children, who will take the State Final Examination (OGE) in a year, is being taught by an elementary school teacher.

«Since the start of the 2025 school year, the school has had no Russian language and literature teacher. In May, the Russian language, literature, and mathematics teacher quit. My daughter is in the 8th grade. Since the beginning of the school year, algebra and geometry have been taught by a third-year student. And there is no Russian language and literature teacher. But at the end of December, an elementary school teacher started substituting for Russian language. I don’t know how long she will be with us and what knowledge she will give our children,» a V1.RU reader says. «My child studies with a tutor, the grades are good.»

According to job search and recruitment websites, a new employee for grades 5–11 has been actively sought since June of last year. For a workload of 30 hours, the teacher is offered 30,000 rubles (about $330), but young specialists are promised supplements of up to 11,000 rubles (about $120), as well as the possibility of paid class leadership of up to 6,000 rubles (about $66).

School principal Dmitry Zagumennov, in a conversation with a V1.RU correspondent, did not comment on the situation, but said that everything is stable with them.

«I am not ready to comment on this situation right now. Our situation with teachers is stable. Even if teachers get sick, we try to cover all problems with current teachers. For all other comments, contact the administration,» the principal said.

V1.RU has inquired with the city administration whether it is true that in the upper grades, Russian language and literature is being taught by an elementary school teacher and if she has the appropriate qualifications. Two hours after the inquiry, no response had been received.

Earlier we reported that fifth grades in gymnasium No. 13 in the Traktorozavodsky district were left without a mathematics teacher. There, according to parents, this subject was simply removed from the schedule. The previous teacher quit, but no one is replacing him — there is no one. They are ready to offer a new employee from 28,000 to 40,000 rubles (about $310 to $440). A similar situation has developed in gymnasium No. 2 in the Krasnoarmeysky district. There, as parents say, three seventh grades were left without a mathematics teacher. According to parents, for over a year, this difficult discipline has been taught to children by an informatics teacher. A future colleague is ready to be paid from 27,000 to 30,000 rubles (about $300 to $330).
