Schools in Kurgan region to undergo $4.3 million renovations

Approximately 400 million rubles ($4.3 million at current rates) will be allocated for major renovations to schools in the Kurgan region in 2026–2027. Contractors have already been selected for most of the projects.

In the Kurgan region, approximately 400 million rubles ($4.3 million) will be allocated for major renovations to schools in 2026–2027. This is according to tender documentation published on the government procurement website.

Judging by the documents, major renovations will be carried out at the following schools (contractors for these works have already been selected):

  • Lebyazhyevskaya Secondary School (83.6 million rubles ($910,000), completion deadline — 31 July 2026);

  • Secondary School No. 23 in Kurgan at Internatskaya Street, 46 (53.7 million rubles ($585,000), deadline — 30 November 2026);

  • Secondary School No. 7 in Microdistrict 3, Building 32 (55 million rubles ($600,000), deadline — 30 November 2026);

  • Secondary School No. 44 at Sportivnaya Street, Building 11 (44.7 million rubles ($487,000), deadline — 30 November 2026);

  • Secondary School No. 1 in the town of Shchuchye (99 million rubles ($1.1 million), deadline — 1 August 2027);

  • Lesnikovsky Lyceum named after Hero of Russia A.V. Tyunin (Kurgan State Agricultural Academy) (58.7 million rubles ($639,000), deadline — 1 August 2026).

Furthermore, a contractor is being sought for the major renovation of a building at Alexeyeva Street, 14 (which houses a taekwondo federation, the Gromov Children«s Art School, and the »Yunior« football school). The renovation is estimated at 140.5 million rubles ($1.5 million), with a work deadline (if a contractor is found) of 18 December 2026.

Earlier, the head of the city, Anton Naumenko, explained that at School No. 23, the water supply, sewerage, and heating systems will be completely replaced, some windows and doors will be replaced, and the entrance area will be repaired. The kitchen block, physics, chemistry, labor studies, and computer science classrooms will also be renovated, and a sports ground will be created.
