Omsk Faces Shortage of Foreign Language Teachers

In Omsk, there is a significant shortage of teachers, especially for foreign languages, with other subjects also facing vacancies.

The Ministry of Education told NGS55.RU which teachers are lacking in Omsk Region. A total of 57 vacancies are open in the region: 27 in the city and 30 in the districts. Omsk has a shortage of foreign language teachers. Currently, 16 English teachers and one German teacher are being sought.

«There is a need for teachers of Russian language and literature — 5 vacancies; history, economics, law, and social studies — 4 vacancies; computer science and ICT — 3 vacancies,» the department added.

Excluding the federal payment for classroom management, in 2024 subject teachers on average earned 46,663 rubles (approximately $467 at current rates); with the payment, it was 53,062 rubles (approximately $531). In 2025, salaries increased to 52,111 rubles (approximately $521) without the payment and to 59,111 rubles (approximately $591) with it.
