Officials Name Cause of Cold in Omsk Kindergarten

The Omsk administration commented on the cold in kindergarten No. 247 on Vsevolod Ivanov Street. The problem occurred in the «Stars» group. As reported by parents, the situation has been going on for years; since September, the temperature in the group has not risen above +16°C (61°F), and in strong winds, it drops to +14°C (57°F).

The city hall explained that the cold in the room is due to insufficient window insulation. The issue of finding funding for these purposes will be considered in 2026.

“The cause of the temperature regime violation in the «Stars» group of kindergarten No. 247 is the need for insulation of the existing window blocks by a specialized organization. The Department of Education has taken into account the need for these works. The issue of allocating funding will be considered during the execution of the Omsk city budget for 2026 and the planning period of 2027–2028, provided that additional funding is allocated.”

The authorities also stated that the «Stars» group is currently not functioning.

“In order to ensure comfortable conditions, the «Stars» group has been temporarily withdrawn from the educational process. The children have been distributed to other groups where established temperature norms are observed.”
