Enhanced security measures and special control at checkpoints have been introduced in all schools in Nizhnekamsk following a recent knife attack by a lyceum student on a cleaner. This was reported by Yana Komarova-Enkova, press secretary of the Nizhnekamsk administration.

Private security firm employees conduct rapid screenings of all entrants at the school.

She demonstrated how inspections are conducted at the entrance of the Adymnar-Nizhnekamsk multilingual gymnasium, where her daughter studies. First, at the checkpoint, entrants are checked with a handheld metal detector, and then students pass through a metal detector frame. If a special signal sounds, private security company employees conduct an additional inspection.

‘In the first video, my daughter is entering the school, I accompanied her and also filmed a short video about security measures for you. As a mother, I’ll add — to avoid queues, all metal objects, like compasses, parents immediately hand over to the homeroom teacher,’ noted Yana Komarova-Enkova.

According to her, student flows are separated into senior and junior classes to avoid queues at the entrance.

On January 22, at the 37th lyceum in Nizhnekamsk, a 13-year-old teenager in a mask attacked a cleaner with a knife. She received eight stitches in the hospital, and the boy was detained by Rosgvardia (the Russian National Guard). A criminal case has been initiated for attempted murder and negligence. The injured cleaner will be paid 500,000 rubles (approximately $5,000 at current rates).

One of the teenager«s classmates said that he was strange and interested in the topic of terrorism, but was not subjected to bullying at school. It also turned out that two days before the attack, a close friend of the boy had died.

After the incident, the head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, ordered special meetings to be held in schools where children«s behavior, not their grades, will be discussed.
