Fifth-graders gang bullies school in Yekaterinburg

In Yekaterinburg, a gang of fifth-graders is terrorizing School No. 96 in Sinye Kamny. Three children have teamed up to attack and bully other students. According to parents, for several years no one has been able to rein in the young hooligans. Here’s what is known about the prolonged school conflict.
They beat and call him «fat mare»
Anna, the mother of Vlad—one of the affected fifth-graders (the child’s name has been changed for safety reasons)—contacted E1.RU. According to her, the bullying of her son has been going on for over five years—since first grade. At first, Anna thought it was part of the children’s adaptation to school, but soon the bullying escalated.
Classmates made fun of Vlad because of his excess weight. The boy studies well and is praised by teachers, which also became a reason for children’s mockery.
«We parents call this trio a gang among ourselves. We have already periodically written complaints about them to the principal and to the Juvenile Affairs Department. They always attack in threes,» Alena told E1.RU. «My son is forced to leave the classroom during breaks, taken to places without cameras or adults, and beaten. Then they go to class and after school start pressuring him, ordering him to go behind the garages for a fight.»

Moreover, Vlad is not the only one being bullied by the schoolchildren. If the boy goes on sick leave, the bullies shift their attention to another classmate—a small and thin one. A year ago, parents asked the principal to transfer the ringleader of the school gang to another class, but the appeal went unnoticed.
The E1.RU editorial office has several videos where classmates deliberately provoke Vlad into conflict—openly bullying him, calling him «fat mare», and reducing him to tears. Out of helplessness, the boy defends himself and tries to fight back, but that’s exactly what they want, for him to start the fight first.
Other children openly support the bullies’ actions, record everything on video, and laugh.
The latest clashes occurred just recently—on October 16 and 20. Vlad returned home from school, and that same evening he felt unwell.
«They directly attack my son, kick him, beat him. I can’t watch these videos where he is being bullied to the end without tears,» Alena admitted. «I already know from experience that it’s useless to appeal to the parents of the offenders. I tried to talk to them in May of this year.»

What the school responded
Anna sought help from the Sverdlovsk Regional Investigative Committee, with other parents she wrote collective appeals to the school, and reported the bullying to the homeroom teacher.
E1.RU was told by the press service of the Yekaterinburg mayor’s office that they began investigating the conflict on October 22.
«Until that day, no information from the child and mother had been received by the school,» the city administration claims. «The school scheduled a meeting with the child’s mother. To clarify the circumstances, the parents of the second participant in the conflict have been invited for a conversation.»
In the class, they promised to conduct events for the prevention of conflict situations and to remind about behavior rules. Based on the meeting outcome, the school will build a trajectory for maintaining a friendly atmosphere in the class. Each participant in the conflict will be accompanied by a psychologist.
Unfortunately, cases of school bullying in the Urals are not rare. When teenagers inflict injuries on other students, the matter even goes to court. For example, in Nizhniye Sergi not long ago, a sentence was passed on a schoolboy who kicked a classmate in the stomach for a hype video: he was given a suspended sentence. The conflict itself occurred on November 11, 2024. The mother of the injured girl told E1.RU that the classmate bullied her since the beginning of the quarter.
Conflicts also occur between parents. Thus, in mid-September, a major scandal happened in a Yekaterinburg lyceum: two mothers accused each other of bullying their children.
