Extreme cold closes second-shift schools in Yugra

Authorities in Yugra have cancelled classes for second-shift students on January 23 as temperatures plummeted to between -27 and -39 degrees Celsius (-17 to -38°F).

In Yugra, on January 23, a weather-related school closure day has been announced for second-shift schoolchildren. Thus, due to low air temperature, classes are cancelled for students:

  • Surgut – grades 1–8;
  • Nizhnevartovsk – grades 1–8;
  • Kogalym – grades 1–11;
  • Nyagan – grades 1–8;
  • Nefteyugansk – grades 1–8;
  • Langepas – grades 1–8;
  • Beloyarsky – grades 1–4;
  • Raduzhny – grades 1–8;
  • Megion – grades 1–8;
  • Pokachi – grades 1–11;
  • Pyt-Yakh – grades 1–8;
  • Khanty-Mansiysk – grades 1–8;
  • Uray – grades 1–11;
  • Yugorsk – grades 1–11;
  • Sovetsky – grades 1–11;
  • Lyantor – grades 1–8.

Also, weather closures have been announced in settlements of the Beloyarsky, Berezovsky, Kondinsky, Nefteyugansky, Nizhnevartovsky, Oktyabrsky, Sovetsky, Surgutsky, Khanty-Mansiysky, and Oktyabrsky districts of Yugra.
